HABITAT RESTORATION
Idylwood Creek Habitat Restoration, Redmond Parks and Recreation (2000-2004)
Taylor Associates, Inc. staff managed a series of projects related to the restoration of instream and riparian habitat on Idylwood Creek. Initially, Taylor Associates, Inc. was a sub-consultant on a team of engineers and landscape architects for the City of Redmond’s Idylwood Creek Restoration Project. Taylor Associates, Inc. assisted team engineers in the pre-design studies, design and installation of a fish passable culverts and instream structures on Idylwood Creek. Taylor Associates, Inc. also conducted a habitat survey, impact analysis, and ESA section 7 permitting for the restoration for the project. ESA section 7 biological assessment included documenting the environmental baseline of the action area and assessing the impacts of the habitat restoration on ESA listed fish species and habitat. Taylor Associates, Inc. was also responsible for fish removal using backpack electrofishing from Idylwood Creek so the channel could be dewatered. In 2003, Taylor Associates, Inc. completed an assessment of existing habitat conditions in Upper Idylwood Creek to identify site constraints and opportunities for habitat restoration. This information is intended to be used by the City of Redmond for evaluating the proposed restoration of stream and riparian habitat associated with 2,300 lineal feet of Upper Idylwood Creek. In 2004, Taylor Associates, Inc. developed the effectiveness monitoring program for the completed restoration of Idylwood Creek.
