SR 167 Ecology Embankment BMP Assessment, Washington State
Department of Transportation (2001-2003)
Taylor Associates, Inc. investigated the pollutant removal capabilities of a new highway runoff treatment BMP developed by WSDOT. The ecology embankment, developed by the Washington State Department of Ecology, is a non-proprietary highway runoff treatment technology constructed in the previous shoulder parallel to the highway consisting of a slotted drainpipe surrounded by media (aggregate, perlite, dolomite, and gypsum). Taylor Associates, Inc. prepared the project scope and budget, wrote the QAPP, led the installation of monitoring equipment (which included several H-flumes), operated and maintained flow meters, and conducted the sampling. Taylor Associates, Inc. was also responsible for data review and analysis and wrote the final project report.
